As part of “Smart Campus 2026 – AI for Tomorrow’s Leaders”, HKtag is proud to introduce the Smart AI Competition — inviting teachers and students across Hong Kong to use Generative AI as a creative tool to design meaningful learning or teaching solutions, and reimagine the possibilities of AI in the classroom.

Each student team can be formed of up to 4 teammates. Any replacements of teammates if the team is promoted to the final round may lead to disqualification. The teachers’ group is an individual competition.

Submission Requirements
Participants are required to use Generative AI (GAI) to create a learning or teaching tool that supports student learning or classroom teaching. Accepted formats include (one or more):
• Gems — AI-powered teaching assistant or learning companion
• Vibe Coding — AI-assisted coding webpage
• Gen Media — InfoGraphics, instructional videos, and more
Note: There is no restriction on which AI platform participants choose to use — creativity and innovation are encouraged.
Other notes on Submission :
- Eligibility for Upper Primary Stream and Secondary Stream: Local school student from Grade 4 to Grade 12 only; A group of up to 4 students
- Submission & Format:
a) Submit your proposal (covering prompting records, objective(s) of the solutions, Benefits and impact on Learning & Teaching and Implementation context) with registration including school teams’ information at our Google Form and upload your PPT/ PDF (up to 15 slides/ pages ONLY) and your final deliverable in format of link of Gen Video/ Infographics/ Vibe Coding / any other AI platform/ website/ Gem to our Google drive by 12 June 2026 12:00 noon for Student Streams and 13 June 2026 for Teacher Stream; b) Please attach team/ teacher information on the first page of the proposal to confirm the school and team name (must be the same as filled in the registration form)
Presentation & Screening:
- First Screening: No in-person presentation required
- Shortlisted teams will be announced within 26-29 June 2026 and notify the shortlisted groups by email or WhatsApp
- Special Learning workshops/ Training for shortlisted teams will be arranged at Google office on 6 July 2026 (Monday) afternoon
- Finalists Exhibition Showcase: 21 to 24 August 2026 when the finalists’ work will be publicly presented at the Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2026 (Each finalist will need to commit around 3 half-day time slots during the period)
- Final Screening: 24 August 2026 (Monday) morning
Format: 5 mins presentation + 5 mins Q&A - Award Presentation Ceremony: 24 August 2026 (Monday) afternoon
